| Cooper
Carter Claremont is a broadly based general practice providing
the services that are demanded by the local public and tailored
to suit their needs. Hailsham is a town with strong commercial
and agricultural traditions. Its expanding residential population
and light industrial sectors form the bedrock of the firm's
clientele together with the agricultural and residential communities
in outlying areas. Additionally, through historical connections
and by recommendation, the firm provides legal services to
clients in various parts of the UK and, in particular, central
and south London.
Cooper
Carter Claremont was formed by two separate mergers of existing
firms. In January 1985 the firms of Coopers (formerly Coles
& James), Chas J Odhams & Sons and Adrian Carter &
Co merged to form Cooper Carter & Odhams. Coopers, orginally
Coles & James, had been practising in Hailsham since approximately
1820. Chas J Odhams had been practising in Hailsham since
1950 and was the second office of a firm based in Wallington,
Surrey. Adrian Carter & Co had been practising in Hailsham
since 1980. |
On
1st September 1990 Cooper Carter Odhams acquired Claremont
& Co and the firm's name was changed accordingly. Claremont
& Co had previously been established in Eastbourne since
1971 having formerly practised as Claremont Heynes & Co
in Brighton and Eastbourne.
