D.W.P. Case Study
Created: 27th March 2007

Cooper Carter Claremont are proud to be featured on the DWP (Department for Work and Pensions) Website in recognition of the adjustments we have made to our premises and working practices to assist clients with disabilities.

In an extract from the site Karen Goldsmith, Office Manager, says: “Lots of businesses think that making reasonable adjustments will be difficult and expensive. This doesn’t have to be the case. If your business is on the second floor it’s not about thinking how people who use a wheelchair can get up the stairs, it’s about finding an alternative. Turning one of our ground floor rooms into a meeting room not only enables people who use a wheelchair to use our service – it has also benefited the whole company by providing more meeting space.”

Conveyancing Operation Moves to Hailsham
Created: 12th April 2006

Sussex Solicitors Cooper Carter Claremont are consolidating their conveyancing operations under one roof.

Malthouse Conveyancing, which has operated from offices in Willingdon for the last seven years, will move to 1 North Street, Hailsham, later this month where it will be incorporated within Sussex Conveyancing division under the general Cooper Carter Claremont umbrella. The move comes ahead of system changes likely to take place next year.

Cooper Carter Claremont principal Adrian Carter, who will head the reconstructed property transfer department, said: “The forthcoming introduction of home information packs and electronic conveyancing will bring changes and fresh opportunities to the profession.

“It is important that I am able to more closely monitor and supervise an increasing workload. This will be easier for me to do from one location rather than two.”

“I hope the move will also be more convenient for our conveyancing clients, many of whom also use our firm for other services. They’ll now be able to find all the expertise they need in one location.”

The Willingdon conveyancing office will close on 12th April and reopen at Hailsham on 18th April. The existing Malthouse phone number, 01323 505405, will be retained alongside the existing Sussex Conveyancing number 01323 847511.

Investor in People Recognition
Created: 29th August 2002

Cooper Carter Claremont Solicitors have been recognised as an Investor in People organisation after achieving the Standard at the end of June 2002. Cooper Carter Claremont embraces a commitment to training and development and looks forward to the bottom-line benefits that improved people performance delivers.

"We are fully committed to developing workforce skills in order to achieve our wider business aims and objectives within our service sector. We have used the Investors in People planning process to address our needs and have now implemented a training and development programme. We will consistently evaluate this to ensure our workforce has the most up-to-date skills in order that we build on our success" commented Adrian Carter, Principal.

Ruth Spellman, Chief Executive of Investors in People UK comments, "Putting people development at the heart of every function is the most cost-effective decision a business can ever make. Employees are central to business success so it is vital for staff to be skilled, flexible and motivated; this can be achieved through planned and consistent training and development. The Investors in People framework ensures that if you look after your inputs the outputs will look after themselves."

The Standard is based on four key principles for people development: commitment to develop employees to achieve business goals and targets; planning to review training and development needs required in context of the business; action to assure relevant steps are taken to meet training and development needs; and evaluation to measure the outcomes of training and development for individuals and the organisation.

Research conducted among recognised Investor in People organisations has shown that 80 per cent have increased levels of customer satisfaction and 70 per cent have improved their competitive edge and productivity. (Source: Building Capability for the 21st century. CREATE 1999)
